Pennant Season Approaches
Good luck to our 2018 Pennant teams which commence Sunday week for our B Pennant side and the week later for the C Pennant and White Horse Cup teams.
Compulsory Drop from behind the Second Green
Compulsory free relief is available for a ball clearly landing in the garden area behind the second green. This relief must be taken in the drop zone which is located north side of the green. Failure to abide by this local rule will result in a 2 shot penalty in stroke play and loss of the hole in match play.
Beware the Driver Reversing
There is a prominent Board member who has a bit of a history with incidents in golf carts. Apparently a few year’s ago at Wellington, a cart he was driving ended up in a bunker. Well true to form it has happened again. While returning his clubs to his car after a recent round he noticed a car trying to move passed. Showing good manners he decided to move the cart out of the way. Yes straight into the tow bar of another car. It sometimes pays to look behind you first!
Care for Your Course
Pitch Marks on Greens
Members are reminded to repair their pitch mark on greens and as a good habit repair one other pitch mark. This includes those caused by chip shots.
Today I repaired 12 pitch marks on the 10th green alone so this is a goal we can all work towards – no unrepaired pitch marks.
Help keep our greens in good order.
Divot Holes on Fairways and Rough
Don’t forget to use your sand bucket to repair any divot holes you see about the course, especially any that you have made.
Simple measures you can do to help improve the condition of your course.
Latest Results
It has been a pleasure to play on the course this week with sunshine keeping the old bones warm. Jim Henry fired the round of the year on Saturday with a massive 47 individual points to win B grade by 6 from Steve Oppert. Chris Leckey had a Saturday to remember with 41 points to win A Grade on a countback from Wayne Arnott and also take the super shot and a nearest the pin. In a day of high scoring Mick Burton won C Grade with a fine 44 points while Robert Weir scored 43 to win D Grade.
On Wednesday it was the one-grade stableford and the clear winner was Al Thrower with 43 points. It was tight for the other places with 4 people finishing on 39 points. Geoff King, won the countback for 2nd, Mick Bartlett won the countback for 3rd, Pat Lawrence the countback for 4th while Chris Goodwin lost the countback to win a ball. Greg Seymour won the gross.
On Tuesday the ladies played an a Canadian Foursomes and Lisa Bell and Shirley Dixon were the winners with 73.25

Captain Dave. Regarding the compulsive drop on the second hole. I would like your thoughts on whether the garden could be out of bounds. The out of bounds on the 5th is only five paces behind the green. I think it’s worthy of consideration. Regards Tony.
Tony there are three options under consideration at the moment. The option you suggest of an out of bounds, changing this area into a hazard area, and retaining the status quo.
I personally prefer the out of bounds option as it eliminates the need for the drop zone which causes much consternation among members and it would also stop people inadvertently taking illegal drops. All options would require a clearer marking of the garden area than is presently the case.

Out of bounds ..good idea….makes us all think more about our approach shot…many over club to ensure the water hazard is not bought into play…thus ensuring a free drop in the drop zone…good thoughts Tony and DAVE..Maybe a little bit of scrub behind green to be removed to allow for a slight over indulged hit..
