Christmas at Jamberoo Golf Club

On behalf of the Staff and Directors of Jamberoo Golf Club we wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Shotgun Start Tomorrow for Vets

A late reminder that the Vets Hams day and Chrissie Party is a shot gun start commencing at 8am. Be at the club by 7.30.

A raffle ticket is attached to your scorecard for the après-golf raffle and bbq.

Volunteers and Staff celebrate Christmas

A special day featuring a little golf and a little function to thank our worthwhile volunteers and staff for the efforts they have put in in 2022 was held at the club last Friday.

Three teams went out to play a nine hole ambrose. The ‘Christmas Bells’, the ‘Jingle Bells’ and the ‘Munchkins’.

Gross Results were 33, 35 and 37 which are very good. After application of the Special Xmas Handicap Method amazingly all teams finished with a nett score of 31.5. A tie was declared!

Following golf and after refreshments and sustenance, the grand efforts of our wonderful staff and volunteers was recognised by President Hahn who sincerely thanked them for their commitment and dedication in this our most challenging year on record. Captain Ransom correctly called them the “heart and soul of the club”.

Thank you to you all.

Clothing Sale at the Club

It is time to celebrate and give those special gifts.

If you can’t find that gift for your special one then perhaps a look at clothing in our golf shop is in order.

Champagne Niners celebrate Christmas

The Champagne 9 initiative of providing Clinic participants the opportunity to gain a handicap, learn the rules and begin playing competition golf has exploded in 2022.

We started with the Pioneers now called the –

  1. “The Trail Blazers” = Rachel, Sylvia, Cheryl & Dawn
  2. Senies (Seniors) now called “The Tweenies” = Peter & Tracey
  3. Now the emergence of “The Next Gen” = Linda, Belinda, Ruth, Karen, Lori, Suzanne & Donna.

Along the way we have added the partners, husbands, neighbours, sons and mothers.

Yesterday, after a hard round of 9 holes of golf, (game = 3 sticks and a putter), Glen created a fantastic BBQ (with Sylvia’s organisation pre-event) and everyone contributed to an extravaganza of food.

Congratulations go to our 2022 recipients of our 3 major awards (covering 25- weeks of competition)

1st Award = The “Overall winner” of 2022 in Champagne 9 = Mitch Smee

2nd Award = “Best Stableford Score” (23points) was = Stephen Kennedy

3rd  Award = The “Most Outstanding Achievement” of 2022 in Champagne 9 = Sylvia Karschies

On behalf of myself and the team, I would like to thank the Jamberoo Golf Club for allowing us to run our Saturday competition and social events.

Also, to all the players who have participated in the Champagne 9 competitions, continue to join us again in the new year. We commence – Saturday 7th January, 2023.

Cheers,

Pam Middlebrook

Ways to help your Club

Jamberoo Golf Club was founded on the principle that we all help out at the club as much as we can.

A look at the history of our club reveals this fact, http://jamberoogolf.com.au/history/. This principle still holds firmly today and is a point of difference between Jamberoo and others, giving us our special ‘village-like’ feel and sense of belonging.

Volunteers help: run the shop and start competitions; maintain our beautiful gardens, help with working bees; help serve members and guests on special function days; clean up after these events; and assist in simpler ways by using the ‘Return and Earn’ and donating proceeds to the club; or just playing in a lot of competitions. Many assist by just having a drink at the club after the game. Some even become sponsors of major events.

It is not just about playing golf, its about belonging to a special club.

Volunteer to help in the shop

The club is in desperate need of some volunteer starters to help in the shop. Perhaps, if you have a spare afternoon or morning each week, you could be of service to your club?

Full training and meal allowance available for all volunteers.

If you are available please contact the Office or Peter Young.

Help the Club by using the ‘Return and Earn’

Want to be a good role model for your children and grandchildren and help our club at the same time? Then why not use the ‘Return and Earn’ machine at the club to recycle all of those cans and bottles you use. It is an indirect and easy way to impress enviromental awareness on our offspring by being a good example.

Why not provide additional support to the club when you arrive for a game at the Roo by arriving with your cans/bottles and putting them into the machine and donate the proceeds to the club?

Help maintain a garden

The beautiful gardens you see around the course don’t just pop up on their own. We have a dedicated crew of volunteer members that looks after them.

Why not join them and add your input to the gardens around the club?

Pam Middlebrook would love to hear from you. Ask at the Office or to Pam for how you could contribute.

Be involved by assisting around the club.

There are many ways you can contribute at the club. Perhaps you can help by using your skills to help.

An upcoming project is to repaint the outside of the clubhouse. Perhaps you could assist. Look for notice in the ‘Daily Cow’.

Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers. Why not join them?
