Jamberoo Women’s Golf Club Annual Presentation and Christmas Party
Yesterday saw the Jamberoo Women’s Golf Club Annual Presentation and Christmas Party. It was a great time of celebration reflecting on the events of 2023. President, Pam, thanked all the members who have represented Jamberoo at other Clubs in their Tournaments, Open Days, Charity Days, and the WGI Pennant competition. Their presence encourages visitors to reciprocate and enter our special events.
Pam also thanked and recognised the Women’s Committee for their hard work, as well as all who helped out at the Get Into Golf Clinics, Monthly Volunteer days and Clean-up days.
The riches and successes of this Club come from its members, acknowledging their commitment, energy and care.
Pam

Monday Veterans Xmas Party
Next Monday 18th of December will be a shotgun start at 8am for our Veteran Golfers. The winners of each division will receive a half ham on the day and runners up will receive a boneless ham ball or equivalent. There will also be a bbq and raffle after the game and the annoucement of this year’s Barry Walker Shield winner.
At the end of last year you were informed that in 2023 we would no longer be supplying hams to our vet members who qualified by playing a certain number of games. In reality nobody reached the number of games needed to qualify (it would have been over 50 games this year – thats more than the number of events). Instead a series of $10 ‘shotgun start’ days were held. In this way all vet members were able to benefit from their membership of the vets and enjoy the company of their fellows in after game revelry.
On Friday night I will publish the tee arrangements for next Monday. The event is a single stableford.
Don’t forget it is a shotgun start at 8am. Please meet at the club by 7.30am.
[you will probably get a reminder from our golf saying it is a 7.30 hitoff, please ignore that time]
In the 2024 programme of Events you will notice that in January, April, May, September, and December there are 5 Mondays. Expect that these months will have shotgun starts. Others may happen as well depending on the weather. Look out for annoucements in the ‘daily cow’.
Hams Day Winners
Despite the thousand degree temperature some very impressive performances were put in during today’s Ham’s Day stableford. I was lucky enough to see Scott Lacey record a birdie on the last for 5 points. Unfortunately for Scott, LIam Miners had a superb 44 points in the group just in front. WOW.
A grade winner Joel McIntosh withstood the mid-morning heat to close his round with a back nine 19 points, good enough to beat both Martin and Les on a countback. Jeff Draper hung onto third place in B grade over the fast finishing and clearly hungry Wayne Griffiths. Both were way behind Liam Miner after his major finish of 44 points.
Elijah, Jonathon and Vince fought it out in C Grade each separated by a single point.
Congratulations to our 9 winners on the day.
Players in my group were heard sadly mumbling something about tinned Spam again!
Saturday 9th December 2023 – Men’s Stableford – Hams Day Results
A Grade Winner: Joel McIntosh 36 pts (c/b) – 1/2 Ham 2nd: Martin Perry 36 pts (c/b) – Turkey Breast 3rd: Les Skarratts 36 pts – easy carve leg Ham
B Grade Winner: Liam Miners 44 pts – 1/2 Ham 2nd: Scott Lacey 36 pts (c/b) – Turkey Breast 3rd: Jeff Draper 36 pts (c/b) – easy carve leg Ham
C Grade Winner: Elijah Crowe 38 pts – 1/2 Ham 2nd: Jonathon Spears 37 pts (c/b) – Turkey Breast 3rd: Vince Byrnes 37 pts – easy carve leg Ham
Congratulations. All the above winners need to arrange pickup at the club at 11 am next Tuesday.
Get into Golf and MyGolf
This week sees the conclusion of both golfing clinics:- Get Into Golf – Women and MyGolf – Jamberoo Primary School.
Both clinics went extremely well with many smiles and high-fives shared.
Thanks to the team of volunteers who assisted Geoff, Phil & myself over the six weeks ensuring all participants gained some skills and an appreciation of the game of golf.
We look forward to seeing our graduates putting their newly gained skills into practice on the course.
