Drummond Golf Stableford Highlights with added Bonus.

During February, the Wednesday Competitions have a bonus addition that will add to the value of prizes awarded. Today the bonus was spread among all winners.

The big winner on the day was Anthony Humphries whose round included an eagle on the 8th hole. Anthony fired a par round to take out the $30 Drummond voucher, $65 for his great score and 5 balls for his nearest the pin and eagle. A great day out! Well done Anthony.

Ray Sheehan won division 2 and was awarded $65 for his good round.

Chris Leckey and Chris Goodwin won $55 each, Norm Bampton and Brian Carr $45 each, Tom Zimmermann and Garry Harmon $35 each and Craig Lee and Geoff Reynolds $25 each.

Norm Bampton fired an 82 off the stick today beating his age! Another great achievement. Great work Norm (and go the Hawks).

As each week progresses during the month first prize will increase to a grand crescendo in the last week.

Next Wednesday will be be a single stroke event on the White Course. The “Mercy Rule” (9 shot maximum) still applies for stroke games for males.

A compensatory Vets Division (due to the WGI event on Monday) will be played for those players who meet the age qualification.

Congratulations to our winners today.

Breaking News: Larry Kent has resumed his role as Captain of Jamberoo Golf Club.

Andrew Constance Visit

Liberal Candidate for Gilmour, Andrew Constance visited Jamberoo Golf Club yesterday and was taken on a tour of the course by Directors of our club.

A small presentation of a club hat, Footgolf voucher, and Jamberoo Stubby holder were made to Andrew.

Andrew was very impressed with the beauty of our course and the dedicated work of our volunteers. He was concerned about the lack of Government support we have received in the past after being made aware of our struggles after the onset of CoVid and the many floods we suffered.

Thank you Andrew for taking the time to visit our club.

GNSW(Illawarra)Pennant Season Commences

The 2025 GolfNSW (Illawarra) Pennant season kicked off today with our C Pennant team in action at the beautiful Moss Vale course.

In a very tight tussle our team emerged successful 4.5 wins to 1.5.

Well played.

Next weekend sees all of our teams playing with the B Pennant team playing Kiama at the Vale;

C Pennant playing Worrigee Links at The Grange;

The White Horse Cup Cowpats playing Worrigee Links at Nowra; and

The White Horse Cup Magpies playing Kiama at St Georges Basin.

News from the Course

Andrew Constance upcoming visit to Jamberoo Golf Club – Monday 3rd February.

Andrew Constance this morning has responded to our request to visit our Golf Club after we asked if he could eradicate the fly problem at Jamberoo! Andrew previously represented Bega for the Liberal Party in the NSW Legislative Assembly and was a the former Minister in the NSW Parliament and the endorsed Liberal candidate for Gilmour, in the upcoming elections. He understood the question as Bega is also Dairy Country.

This will give us an opportunity to talk to Andrew about grants, the Roo, our Flies, our wonderful volunteers, and especially the impact our Women Members bring to the club.

Andrew has agreed to visit us on Monday, the 3rd, around 2 pm. If you would like to meet Andrew then you are most welcome. Please attend and show your support for our club.

Andrew will be taken on a short tour of the course and will attend a small function in the club rooms similar to that given to Gareth Ward.

Further News from the Match Committee.

After an inspection today it has been decided to modify the previous determination about bare patches and core marks on the greens.

Please consult point 3 in the list below.

Some News from the Match Committee, 29/1/2025.

With the fairways now in satisfactory condition it has been decided to revert to

PLAY IT AS IT LIES

  1. On the fairways only, relief can be taken from any bare patch at the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole.
  2. Bare patches in the rough – play it as it lies.
  3. Core holes/bare patches on greens, full relief allowed, no nearer the hole, as these are considered abnormal course conditions. The coring was necessary to help the greens recover from the extreme heat over the Xmas period that affected parts of the greens. The staff are working on these areas and you may see some sanding and fertilising taking place.
  4. Tree Stumps are part of the course and no free relief is available.
