Volunteer Working Bee – Friday 30 June 2023.

Time again for the second of the regular Volunteer Working Bees. Thanks to members and friends who turned out last month to dig, weed, mulch and chat.

After a successful first working bee, the second will be held next week on Friday, 28th July 2023. The working bees are planned for the last Friday of each month so if you are unable to commit this month, look out for the next one on the 25th August.

Once again, there will be jobs for all levels of physical capacity, so come along and get involved in the long tradition of volunteering at Jamberoo Golf Club.  Feel free to bring a friend, even if they are not a golfer.

All you need to bring is some suitable gloves for garden related work.  Be sure to wear closed in shoes and a hat.  All tools will be supplied, but feel free to bring along your own snips, shovel, crow bar or other favoured tool.  We will start work at 8:30 and finish at 12:00 for a sausage sizzle lunch.

Please register your participation with the golf shop by Wednesday 26/7/23 so that we can ensure we have enough lunch to go around.

A great day at the course

The Jamberoo Mixed Open was played today under perfect weather and course conditions. Not only was a game of golf enjoyed by the 56 starters but an equally joyous celebration was also held with fellow club members and our welcome visitors. It capped off a great day at the course.

Many a sad tale was told of unlucky bounces and of partners hitting balls under trees, as our luncheon was prepared and served, and good cheer spread amongst our friends. A great big thankyou is given to all those who assisted in the preparation and cleaning up and to Marie for her great contribution to the organisation of the day and presentation.

The 2023 Jamberoo Mixed Open winners were Kelley Greaves and Ron Chilby who together fired a wonderful score of 76 in the Canadian Foursomes Event. Their round included an eagle 3 on the par 5 tweflth hole.

The nett winners were Pam Middlebrook and Peter Young with an impressive nett score of 67.5. Peter was a very happy golfer winning his first major event at the club. Well done.

Gross Runner’s Up:  Elizabeth Armstrong & Arthur Bosanquet  83

Nett Runner’s Up:  Chris Costello & Barbara Costello  67.75 nett

Women’s NTP 9th:  Cheryl Smee  313 cm

Men’s NTP 9th:  Martin Fogarty  134 cm

Thanks to all of our participants.

Following today’s great success it is planned to have a mixed event on the last Sunday of each month starting in August. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
