Peter Young Honoured

At last night’s AGM an item of special business was debated.

It was the conferring of Life Membership to club stalwart, Peter Young, in recognition of his commitment, dedication and support to the members of the club by his leadership of the volunteer starters.

Congratulations to Peter, an honour well-deserved.

Dave Ransom and Lance Fredericks welcome Peter to the cadre of Life Members of Jamberoo Golf Club.

Jamberoo Women’s Open Day

What a great day! Great weather (until the last hole), great company and great food! Thanks all for the work behind the scenes to enable the visitors to have such an enjoyable day.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Thanks to our catering team of Gus O’Brien, Phil Thompson, on the BBQ; Sylvia Karschies, Shirley Dixon & Helen Wainwright who made the salads and especially Annette Young who helped prepare and plate the luncheon. Thanks also to Sue Miller who baked the yummy slices.

Another successful showcasing of Jamberoo Golf Club.

A big thank you to Vivienne Marris from Elders RE Jamberoo for her kind sponsorship of the event.

Annual General Meeting and the Matildas.

Jamberoo Golf Club is 100% in support of the Matildas and Australian sporting teams in general.

Unfortunately the scheduling of their semi-final against the English clashes with our AGM.

It is not a viable option to postpone the AGM at this late stage as it would contravene our Articles of Association which states that we must advertise it well in advance, as we have.

We apologise for the clash but note that our date was set well in advance of the date set for the Matildas, whom we support fully, like the rest of the country.

Our AGM commences at 7.30 promptly and the Matildas are due to kick off after 8 pm.

There may be enough time to hold the meeting and also to watch the match, perhaps at Club Jamberoo after.

Please be prompt to our meeting.

Exciting Finish to the 2023 Championships

Congratulations to our 2023 Club Champions.

A cold morning greeted the finalists to the 2023 Championships but the golf played was anything but cold. Several players were in contention in each grade for both the gross and nett trophies with the top four in each grade battling it out between themselves in the seeded section. The pressure was on! Some players responded brilliantly shooting their best scores for the Championships. Others tried hard but couldn’t find that elusive spark.

The daily competition was won by Mitchell Smee with a terrific round of nett 63. This was one better than the 64’s recorded by Scott Lacey and Kevin O’Rourke and two better than Ron Chilby’s 65 and 3 better than the 66’s recorded by Brad Rimmer and Ron Hewson. Balls to 69.

Remembering that the order of prizes was best gross, best nett, r/u gross and r/u nett, the following results were obtained.

Club and A Grade Champion:    Ben McEvoy  285    Gross Runner Up:   Noel Laman  311

A Grade Nett Winner:   David Garcia  272     Nett Runner Up:  Brad Rimmer  283

B Grade  Champion:   Ron Chilby  348    Gross Runner Up:  Peter Francis  360

B Grade Nett Winner:    Blake Raymond   272   Nett Runner Up:  Wayne Griffiths  279

C Grade Champion:    Stephen Young  369   Gross Runner Up:  Col Booth  372

C Grade Nett Winner:    Mitchell Smee  269     Nett Runner Up:  Scott Lacey  285

Champagne Nine celebrate the Matildas

Clare, Victoria, Vanessa and Janine

C9ers had their biggest field stretching as far north as Wollongong to down south in Berry. The “Matildas” theme provided an air of excitement out on the fairway all the way back to the bar. (Celebrating the Under21’s & over 60’s Oztag Aussie wins in Ireland). Thanks to the players getting into the spirit of the green & gold, providing nibbles and good conversation (and cheering) around the drinks table.

Winners:- our regular visitors from Wollongong, consisting of Clare, Victoria, Vanessa and Janine (newbie), who generously donated their winnings back to the group’s Christmas Fund.
