Greens Committee Meeting 2nd February

1. Stacked tables and chairs on the verandah

We have some stacked chairs and tables on the verandah marked “Free, please take.”
If you’d like to give any of them a new home, you’re very welcome to do so — just please let the Pro Shop know first.
Anything left after 10 February will unfortunately have to be discarded.

Thanks everyone for your help.

2. Green Hole Condition Notice

There have been some issues noted with the condition of holes on our greens. Please be aware that the Club has recently invested in upgraded equipment to ensure holes are cut cleanly and smoothly.

The concerns and irregularities being observed in and around some holes are not equipment-related, but are being caused by players not taking sufficient care when removing and replacing the flagstick. In addition, some players are using their putters to retrieve their ball from the hole, which can cause damage or raise the turf around the cup.

Members are kindly reminded to take care when handling the flagstick and to retrieve their ball by hand with the flag out to help maintain the quality of our greens for everyone.

3. 4th Green

The fourth green has been infected by a rare type of fungus affecting the roots of the grass. Staff will be working on remediating the grass on the green and the use of a temporary green may be necessary for a short time while remediation takes place.

4. Preferred Lies

Until further notice 30cm preferred lies through the green will be in force.

5. Red Penalty Area Markings.

The Red penalty area for the pond in front of the 8th green has its penalty area defined by the cleared top edge of the penalty area.

On the 16th hole, the red penalty area is defined by the top of the brick work. The fence is not in the penalty area and players are entitled to free relief not nearer the hole if their swing or stance is affected by the fence under immovable obstruction rules.

6. Changes to programme – Womens Pennants.

Women Pennant Days are to be played on Mondays in 2026. Consequently the Mens Veterans will be played on Thursday mornings of those weeks.

16th February – men vets to play on Thursday 19th February

2nd March – men vets to play on Thursday 5th March before women vets

16th March – men vets to play on Thursday 19th March.

Please book in on the time sheets when they become available.

A Busy Day at the Course

Jamberoo Mens Pennants off to a flying start.

Round one of the GolfNSW Illawarra Pennant Season was played today with all three Jamberoo teams recording wins.

The B Pennant won 4 -2 against Gerringong at the Grange.

The White Horse Cup division 1 team, aka as the Cowpats, won 4-3 against Worrigee at Sussex Inlet.

The White Horse Cup division 3 team, aka the Magpies, victorious against Kiama at Russell Vale 5.5 to 1.5.

Congratulations and well played

Super Heroes one and all.

Although the temperatures were high, every participant proved themselves a true Super Hero. The strong support for the Children’s Cancer Institute Charity Day once again showed our community at its very best.

All members should feel proud to belong to a club that steps up under difficult conditions. Well done, everyone — you beat the heat, you showed your spirit, and we thank you.

Jamberoo Board

Being part of the Roo Crew.

These type of days give the opportunity for the members of Jamberoo to show how much they care for our community. With a count still to be made over $4000 is expected to be raised.

Well done and thank you.

It was wonderful to see so many members come dressed up in their super heroes costume, uniform or hats. Bill Read is noted as he came in his fire fighting gear, another type of super hero in our area.

Jamberoo runs on community — Charity Days to the amazing work of our women members do every week. That’s the Roo Standard.

Now we’re inviting everyone to be part of it.

No pressure. No big commitments. Just small moments that make a big difference.

Help when you can. Connect with great people. Have a laugh. Be part of the village.

Join the Roo Crew — where community, purpose and fun come together.

Member super heroes

At the heart of the community we serve, Jamberoo Golf Club is a welcoming, friendly, and inclusive club serving the interests and needs of its members and of the Jamberoo community.

Jamberoo Golf Club is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers and embraces its village golf heritage. A rare find today!

Get involved, enjoy the company of your fellow members, and support your club. These are all aspects of the Jamberoo spirit.

News from the Course – Wednesday

Saturday Super Heroes Charity Day.

A bumper field has enrolled in this Saturday’s event with all but one hole being used.

Please be at the club well before the 8am shotgun start to help facilitate the registration process.

Bring plenty of change as several valuable items will be up for grabs in the raffle. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.

There will be 4 nearest the pin holes as well as the Eagles Nest.

Nearest the pins on the 3rd (eagles nest – shots inside 150 cm), 7th for C Grade, 7th for Women, 9th for B Grade, and the 13th for A graders.

At the conclusion of the round some presentations will be made to the 4 nearest the pin winners, the announcement of the winning teams and a short presentation to the Mens 2025 major trophy winners as well. The Mens Pennant shirts will also be presented.

A sausage sizzle will also be held, for a cost of $4, with all money raised going towards the Children’s Cancer Institute.

With the new furniture it may well be crowded on the verandah so please grab a chair and enjoy the day with a drink.

With such a large field and with the capacity field it probably will be an extended day on the course so please be patient and remember good golfing etiquette. Please be aware that people will be walking in from their concluding hole.

May everybody have a fun day for the little super heroes.

Vale Alan Cox

It is with sad tidings that I inform members of the passing of Alan Cox.

Alan was one of our long time starters who retired from his role as starter in March 2019 after many years of dedicated service to the members of Jamberoo Golf Club.

Having reached a low mark of 2 in the 1990s he regaled many a golfing story having won the inaugural Jamberoo Mens Open.

On behalf of the Members and Directors of Jamberoo Golf Club, our condolences go to Alan’s family.

Rest in Peace.

Alan and wife Joan on the occasion of his retirement with some of his fellow starters and Directors thanking Alan for the many years spent volunteering in the starters area at Jamberoo Golf Club.
