Snake Warning
A healthy black Snake was spotted in the garden near the ninth tee. This would be an ideal hunting ground for a black Snake as it is very near that little pond next to the 8th green, an ideal spot to catch frogs and mice.
Please give the snake plenty of space if you see it.

4th Green Works.
Phil Hahn
There has been some discussion regarding the condition of the 4th green. While Club Captain Dave has expressed the view that it is almost beyond recovery, that assessment is not entirely accurate.
Initially, the agronomy representative incorrectly diagnosed the issue affecting the green. As a result, Nick was treating it for the wrong problem, which unfortunately allowed the condition to deteriorate further.
The 4th green consists of two grass types — Bent and Poa Annua. The green is currently suffering from a fungal disease known as ERI, which impacts Poa grass far more severely by attacking and killing the roots. The Bent grass has been less affected and traditionally performs better during the cooler months. Nick believes that with the change in season and the correct chemical treatment now being applied, there is potential for some recovery in both grass types.
There is no doubt that our greens are ageing, and this situation highlights the need for a long-term plan. Moving forward, we will need a structured program to renovate, rebuild and re-grass the greens in a prioritised manner, potentially completing one green per year.
At today’s Greens Meeting, it was decided that rather than wait for a slow and uncertain recovery, the 4th green will be rebuilt and extended at the conclusion of the Pennant season. During construction, a temporary green will be required to ensure play can continue. Members will soon see preparation underway for a temporary green, which will be in use for most competitions and social play while the works are being completed.
We appreciate members’ patience and understanding as we work to improve the long-term quality of our course.
