Final Round Report.
🏆 by Col Booth
The final round of the 2025 Trevor Bell Memorial Shield (TBMS) was completed on Monday at The Vale, with Links Shell Cove claiming the shield for the first time since the competition’s inception in 2010. Their winning margin over second-placed Wollongong was a narrow 18 points, with Port Kembla finishing third.
Jamberoo, after a slow start to the season, kept the opposition honest — storming home down the outside track like a seasoned thoroughbred to finish a fast and impressive 4th.
🥇 Individual Honours
Mal Hoy led the charge with a standout 39 points, securing the individual trophy for the day at The Vale.
Staunch support came from:
- Ron Chilby and Col Booth – 35 points each
- Ken Holt, Rob McLean, Peter Francis, Alan Jones, and Chris Leckey – all contributing solid rounds of 31 points

Gratitude also to all players who proudly represented the Roo in the TBMS campaign. Notable contributors across the season included Ron Hewson and Bill Reid, whose consistent efforts helped shape the team’s competitive spirit.
A heartfelt mention to Craig Foster, who carried the added responsibility of team captaincy and played a pivotal role in Jamberoo’s late-season surge and spirited performances.
We now look ahead to the 2026 TBMS season, which will commence in April. With momentum building and Roo pride running strong, we’re ready to saddle up for another spirited campaign.
Trevor Bell Memorial Shield 2025 Season Report
by Lance Fredericks
The TBMS competition is over for 2025 with the Jamberoo team finishing in 4th place. Congratulations to The Links Shell Cove for their victory – their first since the competition started in 2010.
Jamberoo had a slow start not scoring very well in the first three rounds but finishing strongly in the last four. If we had scored in the 195 to 205 points range through all rounds we would still be holding the trophy.
Anyway, thanks to all the Vets who played in the competition, I never had any trouble in getting a team on the courses. Players who turned out for the Shield matches during the year were:
Peter Francis
Chris Leckey
Ron Chilby
Larry Kent
Bill Reid
Alan Jones
Craig Foster
Ken Holt
Col Booth
Ron Hewson
Mal Hoy

Les Skarratts
Rob McLean
Thanks very much fellows.
