News from the Course -Thursday

Planned Burn-Off – Community Safety Initiative.

A planned burn-off will be conducted in conjunction with the local Fire Brigade on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Nearby residents have been notified directly via a letterbox drop. The Greens Committee fully endorses this proactive safety initiative, which is an important part of our ongoing fire risk management program.

The club extends its appreciation to member Bill Reid for his valuable assistance in coordinating this effort β€” a fine example of community-minded cooperation and responsible stewardship.

The area to be burnt is near the practice area.

GSI Forensic Experts called to Jamberoo Golf Club.

A Golf Score Investigation was needed yesterday to determine how our golf program handles swingers in fourball stand alone events.

The current Captain and his playing partner, a former Captain, were nearly caught out by it in yesterday’s fourball except for the efforts of our own forensic expert, Marie.

Apparently when there are three players in the group the first mentioned becomes the swinger. What’s more, the swinger’s complete hole-by-hole score needs to be inputted into the computer when scores are entered otherwise the system crashes for the two teams involved.

In an earlier discovery on the day the program will print the cards incorrectly if a female player is put first into a mixed gender team. Please be aware of this when entering names into team events.

Course Update – Green Renovations.

The front nine is closed today to ensure the safety of our staff during the ongoing green renovations.

Next Thursday, the back nine will undergo the same work and will be out of play for the day.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Tree Removal on the 5th.

Kiama Council has granted the Club a Tree Permit Authority to remove or trim 13 trees on the southern side of the 5th fairway near the green. More details will follow as they become available.

Play the Ball as it Lies.

The provision of 15 cm preferred lies on fairways has been lifted from this Saturday until further notice.

Play the balls as it lies unless you are on a bare patch on a fairway in which case a free drop is allowed.
