Perfect Weather and Perfect Shots at the Men’s Foursomes Championships.

It was another day of perfect golfing weather at Jamberoo for Saturday’s Men’s Foursomes Championships, with a large and enthusiastic field enjoying great conditions — and some memorable moments on the course.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly Brett Fielding’s hole-in-one on the 13th hole!
After a three-month break from golf recovering from injury, this was Brett’s first game back. His playing partners initially thought his 7-iron had gone too long and cleared the green — only for Brett to discover, to his delight, that the ball was in the hole. Congratulations, Brett! The time off seems well worth it now.

Brett will have his ball mounted on a trophy as a lasting reminder of his perfect shot, receive six golf balls from the club, and see his name added to the Hole-in-One Honour Board.

Remarkably, Brett’s ace follows his playing partner Geoff Reynolds’ eagle on the 2nd hole just a week earlier — sharp-shooters indeed in that group!

With the 16th green now back in play, several players found the water short of the new wall, apparently caught out by its increased height. One wag even claimed his ball struck the wire of the new fence and bounced back into the dam!

Trevor Bell Memorial Shield.

The latest Trevor Bell Shield clash at The Grange Golf Course saw Jamberoo’s warriors battling hard, with every player aiming to break the 30-point barrier to stay competitive against strong sides from The Links and Port Kembla.

Leading the charge was Ron Chilby, who posted a blistering 41 points, spurred on by the ever-consistent Kenny Holt with 38 points — his handicap dropping faster than a Roo on a downhill fairway. Together, they’re proving to be a formidable duo on any course.

Backing them up were:

  • Alan Jones – 32 pts
  • Chris Leckey – 33 pts
  • Peter Francis – 33 pts
  • Mal Hoy – 31 pts
  • Les Skarratts – 31 pts
  • Craig Foster – 30 pts

With one round to go at Russell Vale, the Mighty Roos are within putting distance of claiming their second consecutive Trevor Bell Shield — a testament to grit, teamwork, and Roo-grade resilience.
