Perfect golfing weather greeted the 32 players in this morning’s 2025 Mixed Foursomes Championship.
The mood on the first tee was a mixture of excitement and nerves, with players unsure of what to expect from 27 holes of alternate-shot golf. With the honour on the front nine, our women competitors stepped up confidently, several hitting excellent opening drives—though a few were perhaps less than memorable.

On the second tee it was the men’s turn, and more than one had to hide their embarrassment as a wayward ball found the trees—or the lake in quick time! The round continued in good spirit, with the familiar words “sorry about that” echoing across the course.

In the end, four pairs battled for the title. Anthony Humphries and Gail Rutledge emerged as the 2025 Mixed Foursomes Champions with a fine 27-hole total of 123. Close behind were Noel Laman and Jenny Strong on 125, followed by Pam Middlebrook and Peter Francis on 127, and Larry Kent and Lidia Wayne on 132.
With the gross title decided, attention turned to the handicap results. This time it was Pam and Peter who prevailed, winning the Nett prize with a score of 97. Larry and Lidia finished runners-up on 99.75, with Tracey Watson and Alan Jones (101.25) edging Julianne Lawton and Dane Edwards (101.75) for third place. All teams with a score of 107 or better received a ball each.

A special award went to Pat Paris and Neen Coffee, who took out the light-hearted “Bradmans” prize for the highest nett score—proof that golf has a way of keeping us humble!
After play, competitors gathered to enjoy each other’s company with a mini spring roll entrée, a hearty sausage sizzle, and donuts for dessert—washed down with a few well-earned cold ones.
It was a wonderful day of golf and camaraderie at Jamberoo, showing once again what makes this club so special.

Cheers,
David Ransom
