Exciting News – Jamberoo’s New Gold Course!
Jamberoo Golf Club is thrilled to announce the development of a brand-new Gold Course, designed and rated by GolfNSW’s Graeme Phillipson and our own life member and former captain Dave Ransom.
The Gold Course is a shorter, friendlier layout, perfect for new players, women, and senior golfers. It reduces long water carries, makes the course more accessible, and ensures a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
This exciting addition will also allow Jamberoo to take part in Illawarra Pennant competitions, which require a course of equal par for both genders but shorter in length to allow women to compete directly against men from scratch. An added benefit is that in the playing of a Mixed Ambrose it will be fairer for women golfers.
We are especially grateful to the NSW Golf Foundation, who have generously supported the project with a $10,000 grant to establish five new tees and associated pathways. New level tees will be constructed on holes 4, 14, 15, 16, and 17 to make the Gold Course feel like a genuine and permanent feature—not just a modified version of the existing layout.
The Gold Course is expected to be popular with both women and men who prefer a shorter and more accessible challenge and helping us achieve one of our biggest goals: growing participation in golf, especially among women and girls.

🏆CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS🏆.
We have certainly been hit by terrible weather this year with firstly flooding and then hurricane force winds causing postponements.
But the “show must go on”, although the tournament has been reduced to 3 rounds.
This Saturday sees the playing of the re-scheduled second round in conjunction with the September Monthly Medal. For those not playing in the Championships the annual ‘Stableford Salver’ will be up for grabs with a new golf bag as the prize for the winner, thanks to Oaks Automotive’s Steve Oppert. Oaks Automotive are praised for their continued support of our major events.
The third and final round will be played the following Saturday 13th of September and it will be a shotgun start from 8 am. Please be there early, say at 7.15, to facilitate a smooth running of the start.
If a playoff is required in any of the grades then they will be held immediately following the round. The format will be ‘sudden death’ over holes 1 and 18 until a winner is determined.
A BBQ and presentation will be held at the conclusion.
Non-championship players of both genders are welcome to play in the daily stableford competition.
⛳ Veterans Spring Medal.
Last Monday the seasonal Spring Medal was contested by the Vets under clear skies and warm Springtime weather. It was a pleasure just to play in such perfect conditions.
The medal was won by Bob Neilson who fired a sensational 63 nett to win by two shots. Bob was presented his medal and a bottle of Champagne at the after golf sausage sizzle and presentation. In his speech Bob thanked his playing partners especially Phil Hahn who was 1 ahead of Bob on the 18th tee.
Russell Reeve and Ron Hewson were the lucky winners of the bottles of Chardonnay from the Ransom cellars!
Apart from the Medal and Champagne Bob received $50 into his account.
Other prize winners on the day were Terry Sense ($40) with 65 nett, Phil Hahn with 66 nett on a c/b ($30), and Ron Hewson ($20) also with 66 on a c/b. John Hol was the unlucky other with a 66 and was awarded a ball but also won the B grade drive and pitch in a small measure of recompense. Rod Poidevin, Pete Munro, Wayne Griffiths were the other accurate shot winners with Phil Hahn winning the ‘super shot’ on the 11th with a shot to 54 cm.
74 nett or better won a ball.
The next Seasonal Medal will be played on December 1 again with a shotgun start and bbq. Please put the date in your diary, (Chris!)

Would have been nice for the Trever Bell players to have played the Spring Medal, but we had to play Pt Kembla . How does this keep happening surely someone on the board can see there’s a clash of dates, or is it they don’t care.

Far from it Craig. Yes it would have been better if everybody had that chance for the Medal and I am pleased it is important to you. However, the golf programme is written 12 months ago. The Trevor Bell Shield details are not known then and that info isn’t shared with the Board or myself. Obviously a lack of communication on the TBMS organisers part! Easy to change – we can do better.
