Club Mens Matchplay Championship

The 2025 Mens Individual Matchplay Championship has commenced with 1st round matches underway. The final date for completion of round 1 matches has been moved back to July 21 due to the course closure last week.

Individual Matchplay Championship Overview

  • Event Type: Handicap Matchplay
  • Entry Fee: $16 (payable before your first match to the starter)
  • Tees: Blue tees/markers
  • Handicap: Full handicap difference applied, using the balanced handicap distribution method
    • Handicaps are calculated from your daily handicap on the blue course.

Prizes

  • Winner: $80 credit, name engraved on the club permanent trophy, and presented with a trophy at the annual presentation day
  • Runner-up: $50 credit
  • Beaten Semi-finalists: $20 credit each
  • Both winner and runner-up will be listed on the club Honour Board

Competition Play Conditions

  • Match Arrangements:
    • Matches must be arranged at a mutually convenient time.
    • Contact the starter to get your opponent’s contact details.
    • Be mindful of existing competitions when booking your match.
  • Results:
    • Notify the starter of your match result immediately after playing.
    • Also email your result to Dave Ransom at [davidransom@optusnet.com.au] for reporting in the Daily Cow and the Kiama local newspaper.
  • Cut-off Dates:
    • Please complete each round as near as possible to the advised cut-off dates.
    • Some players may have a bye in round 1.

🏌️‍♂️ Matchplay Championship – Round 1 Results

John Anthony edged out Jack Leroy in a thrilling battle, sealing the win with a clutch 2-metre downhill putt on the 18th. Both players were in top form, but John held his nerve when it mattered most.

Craig Foster showed his class, powering to a 5&4 win over Greg Clark. Craig’s experience and brilliant long irons proved the difference, finishing the match on the 14th.
