Course update and news.

The extreme weather event that has struck the Illawarra this week has had a significant impact on the course, which has been closed since Tuesday. In just two days—Tuesday and Wednesday—the course was deluged with 250 mm of rain. To put that into perspective, during the entire month of July last year, only 57.5 mm was recorded. This dramatic increase highlights just how severe this weather event has been compared to historical averages.

As at 1.30 pm today water was still laying on the 12th, 14th, and 15 th holes but other parts of the course are drying quickly.

Hopefully with continued clear weather we will be able to play all 18 holes this weekend although some holes may be shortened. The green staff will focus their attention to cleaning the greens and tees in preparation for mowing Saturday morning.

Unfortunately with the course being so wet, and due to the obvious damage that carts would cause, advice is that carts will not be available this weekend.

30cm preferred lies will be played through the green (ie on fairways and in the rough).

The Monthly Medal due to be played has been postponed until the following Saturday and Saturday’s event will be a medley stableford.
