News from the Roo – November 4

Course Update.

With the excellent weather helping the growth of the grasses on the course it has been decided by the Greens Committee to allow the course to be played “as it lies”.

The only provisos are for the few remaining bare patches on some of the fairways where free relief is allowed at the nearest point, not closer to the hole.

The 12th hole is recovering quickly and free relief from flood damage is to remain for this hole. Please keep off the GUR areas near the green.

The new grass bunker is in play on the third hole. If your ball finishes in that section play it as if you are in the rough.

We are awaiting the delivery of turf for the extension of the second tee and the fairway in front of the 12th green.

The renovations to the greens on the back nine are scheduled for Thursday 14th and Friday 15th of November. On these days only the front nine will be open for play.

If you have any suggestions, complements or comments to make please take advantage of the message book kept in the bar area. It is not appropriate to approach the green staff while they are working.

Trevor Bell Memorial Shield.

The Trevor Bell Shield is a special competition for Veteran golfers conducted amongst clubs in the Illawarra. 8 players represent the club in each round with the top 6 of the 8 Stableford scores counting.

Jamberoo held a narrow 5 point lead over the Links Shell Cove going into the last round at Wollongong today, but a solid team performance saw the team increase the gap to 15 and take out the Shield.

Congratulations to our TBMS team!

AL Thrower – ACE

Congratulations to Al Thrower who played the perfect shot on the 7th today. Hitting a smoothly struck wedge the ball landed softly onto the green and rolled gently towards the hole where it fell in.

Well played Al.

You will receive a six ball gift from the club to recognise your outstanding feat, have your name registered on our ‘hole-in-one” honour board and have your ball mounted onto a special trophy as a permanent reminder of the perfect shot.

Congratulations.
